The change of season into Autumn also means a change in the produce we have on offer in the farm shop.
This time of year there is so much wonderful produce coming from the farms – winter veg, squashes of every colour new season citrus as well as our speciality – apples!
We’ve been growing apples for over 30 years and now have over 20 varieties of apples on our home farm. This includes traditional varieties such as Cox, Bramley and Egremont Russet, as well as lesser known Crimson Crisp, Red Topaz and Chegworth Beauty.
Over the coming months watch out for a range of varieties available in the shop in shapes, sizes & flavours to suit every palate!
Eating particularly well at the moment are Braeburn apples – crisp & juicy with a full flavour. If you’re after something a little bit different, our Santana apples are a more modern variety which are full of flavour.
They have been developed to have a lower protein content than more traditional apples – something which is thought to be linked to apple allergies. For cooking, you can’t beat a Bramley – perfect for crumbles, pies or sauces.
Winter squash is also in plentiful supply and those taking a stroll by the shop may have noticed our colourful autumnal displays.
Apple harvest also means the start of our pressing season. All of our juices are made using only the best hand selected fruit, much of which is pressed within hours of being picked.
Perfect for the colder months is our spiced Winter Warmer apple juice – blended with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and ginger. Just empty the bottle into a saucepan & warm through for a delicious warming treat. Pop into the shop to pick up a bottle!
We continue to fill the shelves with the best speciality & local produce – popular at the moment are our vegan ranges which include sauces & tofu, Pana raw chocolate and flying off the shelves is the amazing Pickle’s Pickles Kimchi.
Please do continue to let us know if there is something you’d like to see on the shelves – we always love to hear from you!
