An official MONOPOLY edition for Royal Tunbridge Wells was launched last week during a red-carpet ceremony at The Pantiles! This was on the same day that the much-anticipated game hits shop shelves.
This special edition sees more than 30 leading Royal Tunbridge Wells landmarks replacing the famous London MONOPOLY addresses, like Mayfair and Park Lane.
The launch event for this MONOPOLY version, took place on 26th October at the Tunbridge Wells Hotel, where the entire board was revealed. The game proves to be a popular choice for Christmas presents, providing plenty of family fun.
The town saw off fellow royal cities, including Leamington Spa and Windsor, to win a vote which saw the game being made. Around 30 landmarks replace famous Monopoly addresses, as voted for by residents of Tunbridge Wells.
Mayfair and Park Lane have become The Pantiles and jewellers G Collins & Sons, while Calverley Grounds takes the place of the Old Kent Road as the cheapest spot on the board. Local radio station, KMFM, is also featured with a place on a community chest square.
“The game is a celebration of – and a love letter to – Royal Tunbridge Wells. As for board highlights, you’re looking at things like The Spa Hotel, with lots of history and heritage, The Pantiles which the town is famous for, things like Trinity Theatre, the Assembly Hall Theatre, the High Street – it’s all the things people know and love and that’s what’s important for us.”
– Rob Osborne, Custom Games Manager at Winning Moves UK – makers of Royal Tunbridge Wells MONOPOLY
The special edition is available now at all good Royal Tunbridge Wells toy and book stores including Argos, Fenwick, Waterstones, WH Smith and The Works. The edition is also widely available online, including at www.winningmoves.co.uk. The game retails at £29.99.
