The Latin Underground

Thursday 21st August 2025

Known for playing authentic Latin music with a strong jazz feel The Latin Underground sextet, once led by iconic conguero Robin Jones, performed regularly around the UK. Now led by Marc Cecil, we are very happy to once again welcome Marc and this brilliant ensemble back to the Pantiles.

The arrangements and personnel are an exciting mix from Robin’s two main bands, the Sextet and King Salsa and feature Steve Waterman (Sextet) & Gavin Broom (King Salsa)-trumpets; John Crawford (Sextet)-piano; Andy Lafone (King Salsa)-bass; Will Fry (King Salsa)-congas & Marc Cecil-drums. A fabulous jazz/Latin band. Marc has performed at numerous prestigious UK venues including: Wembly Arena, the O2, Ronnie scott’s, The Jazz Cafe, The Glastonbury festival and The Royal Opera House.

Some of his performance credits include: Jess Moskaluke, Mel C, Marti Pellow, The Drifters, The Real, Thing The Foundations, Robin Trower, Guthrie Govan, and The Platters.
